As demand grew for the use of Ozalenka Cabin, Glen Stanley and his friends realized they needed to find another place for a cabin for people to enjoy the beautiful Dore River area. Originally, they thought about building at Kristi Glacier, but that never materialized.
There is a little lake near the end of the Kristi Glacier trail called ‘Ross Lake’ and before any of the trails had been built in the Avalanche Valley or Kristi Glacier Glen went for a helicopter ride with others to explore the area in hopes to make a loop trail (the idea to connect Avalanche Pass with Kristi Glacier, which can be done and has been done by Glen and many others over the years)
2 years after working on the Avalanche Valley trail, Glen and his friend from Tennessee Keith Carter, climbed Mt Kristi (which just happens to be Keith’s wife’s name) above the Kristi Glacier. The river on the back side of Mt Kristi is the Caribou River, which flows from Avalanche Pass. For those who choose to do the traverse between Avalanche Pass and Kristi Glacier, there is a Mt they call Midway Peak, where, on a clear day, a person can see all the way to Lanezi Lake in the Bowron Lakes Provincial Park!
