Travis discovered Erratic Ridge in a similar way to how he found the Ptarmigan Creek route. His friend Tim Antill had flown over Sentinel Peak and told Travis about it while they were on the phone. They both examined Google Earth, looking at the Anzac Valley. Travis then turned to Sentinel Hub and could see that they were logging out there, so he took a drive out there one winter (3hrs). He drove to within about 2 kms of the alpine and started walking up what appeared to be a nice ridge, which it was.
He ran out of time the first couple of snowshoe trips in (2015, 2016?), but he made it to the alpine on the third try. Finally, Tim and Travis made a trip on September 15, 2017, and flagged a route to the ridge. Travis has led several groups from the Caledonia Ramblers in the area since then.
Travis had found some old tin cans and such at the lake on the ridge, which may suggest that hunters or others had been in the area previously. If anyone has information about horse trails or previous use of the area, please reach out.
