Swift Current Creek Trail in Mt Robson Provincial Park
Comment 0

This hike is located a 3 hour drive east from Prince George, BC. This trail has different types of information online (including the backroads trail book) which may lead hikers into an unnecessary tumultuous bushwhack! DO NOT follow the original trail that follows an old road on the west side of Swift Current Creek, instead follow the well maintained/marked horse trail on the east side of the creek. This trail is mostly flat but does contain some elevation which is encountered at the start of the horse trailhead. Once the hiker arrives at the river gravel braids, the area opens up allowing hikers many options to travel towards the headwall near Whitehorn Mt and Swift Current glacier.

Feb 2024 we backpacked from the official trailhead to the headwall of Swift Current Creek in a multi-day trip, these routes all show on the east side of Swift Current Creek. It is a good idea to sign into the kiosk so that park staff know who is trekking around the area in case of emergencies like wildfires, floods, avalanches etc. This creek is VERY cold and ‘Swift’ so make sure you bring the right gear and mindset before venturing past the gravel flats at 5km.
