This park is located in the same general area as the Erg Mountain Provincial Park, to the South / East of Erg. There is an old horse trail for several kilometers but route finding and blowdown navigation skills are essential to exploring the Ptarmigan Creek area, as the trail is in poor shape. After about 8km, you will need to cross the Ptarmigan Creek and bush-wack another 2.3 km to get to the base of Hammel/Boxcar Mountains and hike another 1 km to get up to the first lake.
