Description:
This park is located in the same general area as the Erg Mountain Provincial Park, to the South / East of Erg. There is an old horse trail for several kilometers, but route finding and blowdown navigation skills are essential to exploring the Ptarmigan Creek area, as the trail is in fair shape, but new blowdown may take some time to be cleared. After about 8km, you will need to cross the Ptarmigan Creek and bush-wack another 2.3 km to get to the base of Hammel/Boxcar Mountains and hike another 1 km to get up to the first lake. This trail is currently a work in progress, and it should be noted that the original trail leading from the Erg Mt trail is no longer maintained.
