Jack Turnbull (probably 1878–1964) ran logging camps for the company during the 1925/26 winter. Following the severe 1927 forest fires, a lookout was opened in 1929. This building still exists four miles (6.4 km) away on top of Longworth Mountain.
The lookout was completely renovated in the summer of 2024. Â No water is available near the cabin in summer. Very harsh weather (high winds, frequent whiteout conditions, etc.) and avalanche terrain near the lookout.
This lookout is operated by the pgbrs.org folks.
