Clarence and Jack Boudreau were the children of Joe Boudreau, an early settler in the community of Penny, BC. These boys (with the rest of their siblings) spent much time exploring and hunting the mountains near Penny, and one of their favorite places was Red Mountain, where Clarence spent most of his time.
The Red Mountain cabin was the brainchild of Clarence and was built by 5 people in 1962. Over the period of 10 years, Clarence built a road from Penny BC to the Red Mountain Cabin area using his D6 CAT. At one point in time, he was able to drive his Jeep within 20 minutes of the Cabin. Over the years, there were battles between the locals regarding people skidooing to the cabin, and Clarence was very happy when the pgbrs.org took over management of the cabin.
In 2024, the cabin was revamped, where more than $100,000 was spent on its maintenance. Red Mountain was originally named Grizzly Bear Mountain, as it is a well-known habitat where many a bear can be glassed from the mountainside.
